Storrs Hall is a beautiful Lake District AA 4 Star hotel; a striking Grade II* listed Georgian Mansion house set right on the shoreline of Lake Windermere. It is unique in the Lake District. We have 36 bedrooms, 29 of which in the main house retain their original architecture so every room is different – a benefit of which is that we can accommodate families in larger rooms, or a combination of adjoining rooms. Due to the Grade II* listing we do not have a lift, but we are happy to help with your luggage.

 Latest Review :   "Firstly the buildings and grounds at Linthwaite are so very special - gardens and statues everywhere, walks are lovely. So very well thought out and relaxing. Rabbits roam the grounds and the sunsets superb.The main house with bar and restaurant, also lovely. The food in the bar - all day dining- was fantastic. We really enjoyed the lamb, roasted cabbage and mash. Couldn’t praise the food enough."

 Latest Review :   "We have just returned from a 3 night stay at Hillthwaite Hotel. We stayed in Room 210 (Langdale) and our friends stayed in Room 15. We had an amazing time. The hotel is a little tricky to find so keep your eyes peeled for the driveway off Thornbarrow Road (although it is signposted). There were enough parking bays at the hotel, but the area is a little small, making it a bit tricky to manoeuvre in some spots. We were welcomed upon arrival and we had a cream tea prior to checking in (which we had prebooked)."

Sunday lunch sublime

We went for Sunday lunch at this excellent gastro pub. It was delicious- really generous portions with additional cauliflower cheese and more than enough veg. The staff were so friendly and attentive and we didn’t wait long at all. We can’t recommend it enough!

Really great meal

In a lovely environment with friendly staff. We had heard this place had changed hands so wasn’t sure what it would be like so we were very happily surprised. Fantastic food. Steak and ale pie was delicious as was the sticky toffee pudding. Very friendly and efficient staff. Nicely decorated place. Inviting bar area. Would recommend.

Well worth a visit!

Excellent food, excellent service and value for money. The menu is simple but with plenty of choice, portion sizes generous but not over facing and the food is good honest home cooked food by a chef who obviously knows what he is doing. It’s a long time since I’ve eaten at the Bay and I will be going back for more.

Good Views, Friendly Staff & Place

Stopped in one of their ground floor rooms, WiFi was good which was needed & the view from the room was lovely. Anthony & All the Staff were helpful and a made my stay more than comfortable. The Breakfast was (for me) spot on every morning and a great way to start the day with a smile from the Staff

Good value for money

Went for impromptu lunch. Excellent service. Food was lovely and very good value for money. I chose the scampi and changed the sides due to my foodie intolerances and this was accommodated without fuss. Staff very friendly.

Birthday meal, first class!

Although we don't stay at the hotel we eat and drink here every time we holiday in this area. Our meal tonight was first class, as a vegan I chose the plant burger and my family had fish and chips and the evening special sea bass. The staff as ever were very friendly and attentive. Love it here and couldn't recommend it highly enough!

Great place and superb location

Popped in for lunch. Warm welcome from the landlord and staff. Meal was freshly prepared and thoroughly enjoyable. We had a table overlooking the peninsula which was picture postcard. Very good prices.

Fabulous Food

Popped in for an evening meal as we were staying at a local hotel. The food was excellent. In fact the food was better than some meals I have had in certain restaurants. A huge surprise from a local Public House. Will definitely be back for their Sunday Roast. Thank you !

Fantastic stopover.

We arrived late due to traffic, well after the restaurant was closed. However Anthony and his team made us very welcome and even prepared us a lovely sandwich plater. The family room we had booked was prepared lovely and very comfortable to sleep in. This overnight stay was then finished off with a fantastic breakfast. Thank you Anthony and your great team

Fabulous Hosts!

The Room we stayed in at the Bull was very clean and spacious, lots of hot water for a bath etc. TV good, bed comfy. The breakfast on Sunday morning was massive, everything you would want from cereal, FULL English, large pot of tea or coffee, toast, jams etc. presented beautifully at the time we requested 9.0 am, forgot to mention Saturday night meal again was excellent, we eat there regular through out the season.

Absolutely delicious.

Great menu choice, vegetarian, and vegan options, I had the mushroom and halloumi burger it was a tasty sensation, my husband had the steak n ale pie he said it was packed with steak. Staff are friendly and very helpful. I love that we had time between courses I hate being rushed. Plenty of drinks to chose from and they even do cocktails to. You can sit out at the front and loose yourself in the breathtaking scenery but on rainy days there is also a lovely outside botanical covered area.

Definitely come again.

All the staff are extremely friendly and make everyone feel totally welcome. The food we had was top notch and apparently all home cooked. I had the curry off the menu and my wife had the chicken stew with dumplings from the chalkboard. We didn’t leave a speck on our plates. On top of that we got to park our camper for nothing overnight. What more can you ask for. Oh by the way, it’s in a lovely part of Lancashire. Don’t just take my word for it, go and try it yourself.
