 Latest Review :   "Firstly the buildings and grounds at Linthwaite are so very special - gardens and statues everywhere, walks are lovely. So very well thought out and relaxing. Rabbits roam the grounds and the sunsets superb.The main house with bar and restaurant, also lovely. The food in the bar - all day dining- was fantastic. We really enjoyed the lamb, roasted cabbage and mash. Couldn’t praise the food enough."

Storrs Hall is a beautiful Lake District AA 4 Star hotel; a striking Grade II* listed Georgian Mansion house set right on the shoreline of Lake Windermere. It is unique in the Lake District.  Latest Review :   "We have just returned from a 3 night stay at Hillthwaite Hotel. We stayed in Room 210 (Langdale) and our friends stayed in Room 15. We had an amazing time. The hotel is a little tricky to find so keep your eyes peeled for the driveway off Thornbarrow Road (although it is signposted). There were enough parking bays at the hotel, but the area is a little small, making it a bit tricky to manoeuvre in some spots. We were welcomed upon arrival and we had a cream tea prior to checking in (which we had prebooked)."

Enjoyed every bite!

Popped in here as I was looking for somewhere to eat dinner at a reasonable hour. I arrived just after 4.30pm, and was told they didn't serve food till 5. One relaxing cider later, I ordered the steak and ale pie with mash. I'm a little fussy with my food, but was hoping for something nice.

Perfect resting place!

Stayed for the weekend as a group here for the 3 peaks. The Golden Lion was exactly what we needed as a place to socialise and relax after long days hiking. Great service from all staff we encountered, great beer and bar area with a very welcoming log fire ,lovely restaurant with good menu and great breakfast , great rooms with comfy beds. Location couldn't be better for our requirements.

Really good value

Held our wedding reception at this venue. Nothing was too much trouble and all ran smoothly, from the timing of the food courses being served, even allowing breaks when needed as the portion sizes were generous. Food was all lovely and commented on by all. Big thank you to Tom, Mark and all the staff.

Valentines meal in Cardiff

My partner and I booked for Valentines and his birthday. We have eaten here many times and have always found the food to be excellent. We were happy the venue had chosen to offer their main menu alongside some special menu items for Valentines rather than offering only a set Valentines menu like other venues, it gave more of a relaxed feel to the evening. The food, as always, was exceptionally good and the service, firendly and attentive.

Sunday lunch sublime

We went for Sunday lunch at this excellent gastro pub. It was delicious- really generous portions with additional cauliflower cheese and more than enough veg. The staff were so friendly and attentive and we didn’t wait long at all. We can’t recommend it enough!

Good honest food

My wife and I went there for our evening meal (Tea, Dinner, supper, whatever you call it) and the food was superb. The steak and kidney pudding (locally made) was the best I've eaten and my wife had fish. Beautifully served and delicious. To cap it all, really nice friendly staff too.

Never disappoints!!

Went for lunch again this week with my friend. She had the small Fish and chips which as usual was such good value and absolutely delicious and I decided on the Mushroom and tarragon Rissotto and it was one of the best Rissotto's I've ever tasted!! It was absolutely delicious. All staff very pleasant and always smiling. This has to be the best place for lunch in Cardiff without a doubt.

Great food, decent karaoke

In the day you can get decent food at a great price - the Sunday lunches are particularly great. At night it turns in to a banging venue absolutely jam packed with fertile scrat bags. Saturday evening karaoke is not to be missed (although some of the singers are of variable quality) Drinks are reasonably priced as well - what’s not to like?

Good value lunch

Nice cosy pub with a real fire. Friendly service and good value pub grub cooked with pride. I can recommend the chicken breast in white wine sauce. Good atmosphere, home cooked food, lovely warm log fire. Would recommend. Excellent value Pool table and darts available.

Fantastic stay!

We were attending a Wedding in Cardiff and the Langdale Hotel was recommended to us, and we were not disappointed, 6 of us had a brilliant overnight stay, Amanda the Landlady was extremely friendly, and the Breakfast was lovely, nothing was too much trouble, I would definitely stay again.

Fine dining at it's best

We all had a fantastic time at the griffin yesterday. the surroundings are beautiful, the staff and service were excellent...and the food!!, in a word, AMAZING! Well done chef/owner Lee Wright this place is certainly going to be a success.

A wonderful experience!

Lovely warm welcome, lovely table with plenty of space and we noticed imm all tables were well spaced. Great specials menu plus a special sandwich menu for those who fancied a light lunch. Main menu was very impressive and finally we both went for the twice baked cheese soufflé. Divine. Then I went for the Hake Kiev which was delicious and something I’d never had before. My wife had the fish pie which she loved both very tasty and great value. Washed down with a few glasses of Rose.

Highly recommended

When I travel to Cardiff I always try and book in at this inn. I have never had a bad experience and would fully recommend it. I have always had a warm welcome from the staff and they cannot do enough to ensure that I have a great stay. Its a combination of good accommodation and a great restaurant and bar on site.
