We soon noticed how clean the hotel was.we stayed in room 11, the room was spacious & bright with the most amazing bathroom.the atmosphere at the hotel is very relaxed.the restaurant offers a good choice of options for breakfast & the food is of a high standard.  Latest Review :   "Having stayed here before we wanted somewhere special for my 60th birthday, and we were not to be disappointed. We could not fault anything about this amazing hotel. Hosts Caroline and Jonathan make you feel so very welcome, and nothing is too much trouble. We will most certainly be booking another return visit in the future. Set in in its own beautiful grounds which are immaculately maintained, it is so peaceful and quiet, although it’s only a short walk to the centre of Windermere."

Storrs Hall is a beautiful Lake District AA 4 Star hotel; a striking Grade II* listed Georgian Mansion house set right on the shoreline of Lake Windermere. It is unique in the Lake District.  Latest Review :   "We have just returned from a 3 night stay at Hillthwaite Hotel. We stayed in Room 210 (Langdale) and our friends stayed in Room 15. We had an amazing time. The hotel is a little tricky to find so keep your eyes peeled for the driveway off Thornbarrow Road (although it is signposted). There were enough parking bays at the hotel, but the area is a little small, making it a bit tricky to manoeuvre in some spots. We were welcomed upon arrival and we had a cream tea prior to checking in (which we had prebooked)."

Rabbits roam the grounds and the sunsets superb.The main house with bar and restaurant, also lovely. The food in the bar - all day dining- was fantastic. Home cooked food at its best

This is a lovely little pub, with lovely home cooked food. The menu has plenty for everyone, and there is a specials board each day. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. . Whilst there is a large car park across road, it can be a bit tricky crossing the road at bust times.

Fine dining at it's best

We all had a fantastic time at the griffin yesterday. the surroundings are beautiful, the staff and service were excellent...and the food!!, in a word, AMAZING! Well done chef/owner Lee Wright this place is certainly going to be a success.

Perfect resting place!

Stayed for the weekend as a group here for the 3 peaks. The Golden Lion was exactly what we needed as a place to socialise and relax after long days hiking. Great service from all staff we encountered, great beer and bar area with a very welcoming log fire ,lovely restaurant with good menu and great breakfast , great rooms with comfy beds. Location couldn't be better for our requirements.

Lovely food.

Myself and my partner went for a meal after work. I've got to say the steak was perfect. I always order medium rare and in a lot of restaurants it can be hit and miss. But it was perfect. My partners pie was delicious. Loved the Christmas decorations and ambience. Even though the manageress was on her own there was no fault in service. We will be back very soon.

The best Sunday lunch!

We visited 12 months ago, and had the best Sunday Roast ever! This time it didn’t disappoint! Delicious and amazing home made desserts if you have room! 😊 Lovely friendly welcome and service. Highly recommend.

Good food, nice atmosphere

I think it's good that they don't try to over-complicate things, but still have a few interesting options. The beef stew was very nice and a bit different to mainstream dishes. I don't think they overcomplicate things though and that is good; more like pubs and pub food used to be. A good meal at a reasonable price.

Great place to stopover!

Stayed for 2 nights just as Storm Dennis was kicking in, exceptionally windy and wet!! Checked in and were given a room in the new part of the hotel, looking out over the sea, although the room was smallish, it was warm and cosy, food was good and reasonably priced, worth a visit.

Nice cosy rural pub

This is always a great pub everytime we come here we know the beer is always perfect and as for they serve is proper pub food at pub prices the homemade steak pie is a proper pie as it should be as for the homemade curry it was spot on cooked just as we like it great choice of gins and over 100 whiskies to choose from the staff are very friendly ,
