Rabbits roam the grounds and the sunsets superb.The main house with bar and restaurant, also lovely. The food in the bar - all day dining- was fantastic.  Latest Review :   "We have just returned from a 3 night stay at Hillthwaite Hotel. We stayed in Room 210 (Langdale) and our friends stayed in Room 15. We had an amazing time. The hotel is a little tricky to find so keep your eyes peeled for the driveway off Thornbarrow Road (although it is signposted). There were enough parking bays at the hotel, but the area is a little small, making it a bit tricky to manoeuvre in some spots. We were welcomed upon arrival and we had a cream tea prior to checking in (which we had prebooked)."

Storrs Hall is a beautiful Lake District AA 4 Star hotel; a striking Grade II* listed Georgian Mansion house set right on the shoreline of Lake Windermere. It is unique in the Lake District. A great trip

Exactly what we needed. The pub also does some sensational non traditional dishes. They where so lovely when I popped a party canon they laughed and joined our celebrations. The owner of the pub was so kind and gave us a donation towards our charity RASA whom we where doing the hike for. Would recommend and go back! Thanks so much, have a great rest of the year everyone.

Good value lunch

Nice cosy pub with a real fire. Friendly service and good value pub grub cooked with pride. I can recommend the chicken breast in white wine sauce. Good atmosphere, home cooked food, lovely warm log fire. Would recommend. Excellent value Pool table and darts available.

A wonderful experience!

Lovely warm welcome, lovely table with plenty of space and we noticed imm all tables were well spaced. Great specials menu plus a special sandwich menu for those who fancied a light lunch. Main menu was very impressive and finally we both went for the twice baked cheese soufflé. Divine. Then I went for the Hake Kiev which was delicious and something I’d never had before. My wife had the fish pie which she loved both very tasty and great value. Washed down with a few glasses of Rose.

Absolutely superb

Myself, wife and daughter are vegan and they made a separate mini buffet for us on a separate table. The food was the best I have ever had for a buffet in a pub. Homemade pizza, garlic bread, salad, spring rolls and an amazing tomato soup. Everything was delicious. Really cannot fault this pub, brilliant and please visit for superb food, great beer choice and friendly smiling faces…perfect.

Warm welcome and great food!

We choose this place from the Britstops Guide and what a great place it was. We received a very warm welcome; food and drinks order taken promptly and served pleasantly. Fish and chip order was huge; scampi, chips and peas was smaller as requested. An old style pub with good food; great service and very accommodating staff.

A wonderful experience

My husband and I have just had a wonderful meal at this gastro pub. We chose the roast beef & Yorkshire pudding with vegetables. For dessert I had sticky toffee pudding with ice cream whilst my husband had rum & rain ice cream with a rum to pour over the top. Everything was freshly made (no frozen stuff) It was the best meal we have ever had in ages. We highly recommend paying the pub a visit but book a table first. Very friendly welcoming staff.

Catch up with a friend.

Called in after work for tea and a catch up with a friend. Service was friendly and it was explained there would be a short delay with food as they were very busy and food was cooked fresh. This was not a problem and the food was well worth the wait(which wasn’t long)! I had cheese & onion pie and my friend had steak and ale pie, made fresh and cooked to perfection, served with fresh veg and home cooked chips. It was delicious! Will definitely be going back.

We held our Mum’s celebration of life here after her funeral in August. Amazing food and none of my requests were too much trouble. The food and brews just kept coming without us having to ask. There kindness and sensitivity hasn’t gone unnoticed. The meal we had a few weeks after was ace. Halloween was great for all the children in the village, they do the village proud.

Really great meal

In a lovely environment with friendly staff. We had heard this place had changed hands so wasn’t sure what it would be like so we were very happily surprised. Fantastic food. Steak and ale pie was delicious as was the sticky toffee pudding. Very friendly and efficient staff. Nicely decorated place. Inviting bar area. Would recommend.

Good Views, Friendly Staff & Place

Stopped in one of their ground floor rooms, WiFi was good which was needed & the view from the room was lovely. Anthony & All the Staff were helpful and a made my stay more than comfortable. The Breakfast was (for me) spot on every morning and a great way to start the day with a smile from the Staff

Valentines meal in Cardiff

My partner and I booked for Valentines and his birthday. We have eaten here many times and have always found the food to be excellent. We were happy the venue had chosen to offer their main menu alongside some special menu items for Valentines rather than offering only a set Valentines menu like other venues, it gave more of a relaxed feel to the evening. The food, as always, was exceptionally good and the service, firendly and attentive.

Good quality food

Had a very nice Sunday roast turkey dinner.The staff are friendly and the restaurant was lovely and warm and has a nice ambiance.It is not far from where I am living so I will be visiting here on a regular basis for my meals.It is not overly expensive.I highly recommend it.
