Latest Review :   "I love this hotel and the location is idyllic. Being dog friendly is a big plus. All the staff are great and a big thank you to everyone - reception, waiters / bar staff and great gardeners who keep the grounds perfect. A massive thankyou to Kimia who was wonderful and loved our black spaniel molly. Kimia is destined to go far, I know she is on placement while studying, but I hope that when she qualifies she will return to Cragwood and we will see her again. Also thank you to the management."

Latest Review :   "We have just returned from a 3 night stay at Hillthwaite Hotel. We stayed in Room 210 (Langdale) and our friends stayed in Room 15. We had an amazing time. The hotel is a little tricky to find so keep your eyes peeled for the driveway off Thornbarrow Road (although it is signposted). There were enough parking bays at the hotel, but the area is a little small, making it a bit tricky to manoeuvre in some spots. We were welcomed upon arrival and we had a cream tea prior to checking in (which we had prebooked)."

The Gilpin
unforgettable hotel

One of our favourite things that our guests say is that when they think of Gilpin, they think of love and laughter – ours, and theirs, which is a really lovely compliment. At the heart of Gilpin is a very passionate family and team, dedicated to creating lasting memories for our guests, who return time and again for romance, celebrations and escapes. For us, hospitality starts with a very warm welcome and ends with a friendly goodbye, with extraordinary service and exquisite décor.

More Information :   "At Gilpin we have two hotels on two separate estates with three unique restaurants, but one team, so your time with us, wherever you are, should be seamless. Choose between a very chilled-out hotel, Gilpin Hotel, or our hotel-come-country-house, Gilpin Lake House. We are delighted to announce that SOURCE at Gilpin Hotel has been awarded a coveted Michelin star following Ollie Bridgwater’s arrival earlier this year."

Merry Christmas meal.

The pub is clean and tastefully decorated. The table was dressed appropriately for the season and the food was the best Christmas meal I have had anywhere!!!!! Everything beautifully presented and piping hot. I started with pigs in blankets with the best piece of crackling ever. The turkey melted in the mouth and roasties and mash were superb The Christmas pudding was rich but not too heavy and piping hot custard just right.

Gorgeous country pub

Just what you needed on a miserable Misty cold day. Roaring fire and cosy oldie worldy decor. Lots of parking. Very pleasant staff. The fish butty ( on a brioche bun) & mushy peas also with skinny fries. The beer battered haddock was beautiful. The goosnargh chicken BLT on brioche was also spot on and will definitely return. Highly recommended

Catch up with a friend.

Called in after work for tea and a catch up with a friend. Service was friendly and it was explained there would be a short delay with food as they were very busy and food was cooked fresh. This was not a problem and the food was well worth the wait(which wasn’t long)! I had cheese & onion pie and my friend had steak and ale pie, made fresh and cooked to perfection, served with fresh veg and home cooked chips. It was delicious! Will definitely be going back.

Exceptional place to stay

As soon as you walk in you are made to feel very welcome. The Landlord is very friendly and chatty. The pub itself is very cosy and I recommend their restaurant, they serve delicious homemade food. The bedrooms are very clean and comfortable, as well as tea/coffee making facilities they also provide a ‘breakfast’ box which was a nice surprise. Overall I would definitely stay here again.

Great village pub.

I’d heard very good things about the new management. The service was friendly, the food was absolutely brilliant. Good wholesome pub food. I had the steak pie which was lovely, with a lovely rich gravy. All plates cleared. We will definitely return, I think if this is the standard, the other pubs in the area should be worried. Thanks again. We will definitely return.

Beautiful and breathtaking!

I went in January for a wedding fair, this was the first venue we went to visit and I didn’t expect to book it there and then but the whole experience was just amazing, the hotel was absolutely perfect, really modern and very romantic and beautiful. We went off for lunch and viewed a few rooms and the spa and cannot wait to use this ASAP! We booked our wedding venue there and then, the staff were so friendly and helpful particularly for me as I am disabled and wheelchair bound.

Lovely food.

Myself and my partner went for a meal after work. I've got to say the steak was perfect. I always order medium rare and in a lot of restaurants it can be hit and miss. But it was perfect. My partners pie was delicious. Loved the Christmas decorations and ambience. Even though the manageress was on her own there was no fault in service. We will be back very soon.

A lovely stay

Just back from a one night stay in this Pub with rooms and thoroughly enjoyed it. We stayed in The Barn conversion just up the road which was spacious, cosy and well appointed. Dinner was very good, as was the service. Breakfast was top quality and the lunch we had after a long walk up Malham Cove was also very good. Just a couple of words of advice. This venue is very dog friendly.

Amazing service & food

I wanted to leave a review as I feel this pub certainly deserves it! The new management is next to none! The service we received as soon as we came in was amazing and lovely that owner took the time to come to speak to us. Not only was the service was amazing, the food is ridiculously good, you can tell everything is fresh and made from scratch, can’t recommend this place enough whether it’s food, just drinks or both. A suitable pub for family, friends, couple the whole lot!

Good honest food

My wife and I went there for our evening meal (Tea, Dinner, supper, whatever you call it) and the food was superb. The steak and kidney pudding (locally made) was the best I've eaten and my wife had fish. Beautifully served and delicious. To cap it all, really nice friendly staff too.

Good value for money

Went for impromptu lunch. Excellent service. Food was lovely and very good value for money. I chose the scampi and changed the sides due to my foodie intolerances and this was accommodated without fuss. Staff very friendly.

Family birthday

The staff were very helpful on arrival by holding the door open as some of our party had mobility issues. Very welcoming. Busy pub but staff very efficient without rushing guests to choose food or drink. Excellent food. Good sized portions. Had salmon and prawn cocktail. Duck chorizo salad and goats cheese parcel. Mains were beef and mushrooms pot pie and thai salmon salad. Very tasty.

Amazing meal

Visited Friday night 3rd February. The fact that my husband is both Gluten and Dairy intolerant was not a problem at all. ( bliss) stunning lamb shank that literally fell off the bone. Dessert, sorted two choices of gluten and dairy free tart for my husband and vegan ice cream. All this on our doorstep. Thank you so much you never disappoint.
